My Personal Story
In November 2006 I attended my first course on diagnosis and treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea. During the training, I volunteered to use a home test kit called the “Remmers’ Recorder”, which records sleep patterns to determine if you have Sleep Apnea. The next day, the results were downloaded on a computer and the software analyzed the data from the recording made while I slept. My test results revealed a mild case of apnea. One of the instructors, Dr. John Remmers, who actually developed the recorder, said though the results were mild, I would probably notice improvement after wearing the oral appliance.
I can personally say it only took a few nights of wearing the TAP appliance that I noticed I was waking up more refreshed and often before the alarm went off. As a result, I have been wearing the TAP appliance and successfully treating patients with it for nearly five years.
