Meet Dr. Philip Tregoning

Dr. Philip Tregoning is from Carterville, IL and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Lambuth College in Jackson, Tenn. “My favorite subject was science, and I wanted a profession that would incorporate science.” Dr. Tregoning then attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Dentistry and received his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (D.M.D.) in 1993. He completed the Advanced Degree Program in General Dentistry in 1994. He belongs to the American Dental Association and Alabama Dental Association.

“Dr. T,” as he is affectionately called by employees and patients, was co-owner with Dr. Lyndon Campbell from 1994 to 2013. Dr. Campbell passed away suddenly in 2013, and Dr. Tregoning was the owner and the sole dentist at Athens Dental Services until June 2022. At that time, in early preparation for retirement, Dr. Tregoning sold the practice to Dr. Ian Haggard.

Dr. Tregoning and wife, Cheryl, have been married since 1996. She’s a secondary English teacher. Dr. Tregoning and Cheryl have one son, Jack.
